Demilitarization Operations for Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard
Military Munitions Response Action
KGS demilitarized and disposed of material documented as safe (MDAS) and scrap metal accumulated during routine clearance sweeps of Walker Lake and a 2015 removal action performed along the southeastern shoreline of Walker Lake.
Thorough QC was performed during field activities to ensure quality standards and procedures were met and maintained throughout the duration of the project.
A three-phase inspection process implemented (preparatory, initial and follow-up phases) during execution of the project.
Demilitarization operations were conducted that were associated with munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) and material potentially presenting an explosive hazard (MPPEH) was recovered from the 10, 269 acre Former Walker Lake Test Range MRS.
The MRS is under the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP).
