Natives of Kodiak, Inc. (NOK) is an Alaska Native Urban Corporation headquartered in Kodiak, Alaska. Established in 1973, NOK is a for-profit corporation dedicated to enhancing the everyday lives of its Shareholders and Descendants through strategic business ventures and responsible land management.
Rooted in community, NOK represents more than a thousand shareholders primarily from the Sun’aq tribe and of Alutiiq/Sugpiaq descent. The Alutiiq people have thrived along the coastal regions of southcentral Alaska for over 7,500 years.
Under the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA), NOK was granted 23,040 acres of surface estate and $250,000 in cash. Unlike Village Corporations tied to specific Alaska Native communities, Urban ANCs like NOK serve a broader population of Alaska Native people.
Today, NOK operates a family of companies across diverse industries, including government contracting, construction, and real estate. With subsidiary projects located nationwide, NOK continues to expand its reach while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainable growth.
Through diversified business operations, strategic financial investments, and effective land management, NOK remains focused on creating long-term benefits for its Shareholders and future generations.
