Distributions & Direct Deposit

What are Shareholder distributions?

Distributions are payments made to Shareholders from the NOK Trusts. They are one of the primary benefits of being a Shareholder and are typically paid on a schedule determined by the Board of Directors.

Distributions can be sent by paper check or deposited directly into your bank account through direct deposit.

To enroll, complete a Direct Deposit Authorization Form in the myNOKilat.com Shareholder Portal or return it to Shareholder Services with your banking information.

Yes, you can update
your banking information by submitting a new Direct Deposit
Authorization Form. Changes must be received 10 days before
distribution processing deadlines to take effect for the current payment.

Your distribution will be mailed as a paper check to the address we have on file.

If you have not received your distribution after the announced payment date, please contact Shareholder Services at (907) 486-3606 so we can confirm your address or bank information and resolve the issue.

Distributions from both the Natives of Kodiak Shareholder Permanent Fund Trust and Natives of Kodiak Benefits Trust were nontaxable in 2024, and 1099s were not sent out for these distributions.

Shareholders who received prizes at events or from our quarterly distributions that amount to over $600 in a calendar year will receive a 1099 tax form from Natives of Kodiak.

Shareholder IDs

What is a Shareholder ID?

Your Shareholder ID is a unique identification number assigned to you by Natives of Kodiak, Inc. It helps us confirm your Shareholder status and ensures your records are accurate.

Your ID may be required when voting in Shareholder elections (online, by proxy, or in person), accessing Shareholder-only events, livestreams, or portals, updating your contact information or Shareholder records, or requesting certain Shareholder services.

Your Shareholder ID number can be found in the Shareholder Portal at myNOKilat.com or call Shareholder Services at (907) 486-3606.

No, your ID is unique to you and should be kept confidential to protect your shareholder information.

Stock Wills

What is a Stock Will?

A Stock Will is a legal document that tells NOK how you want your shares to be transferred when you pass away. It ensures your wishes are clearly recorded and honored.

Without a Stock Will, your shares will be distributed according to ANCSA law, which may not reflect your wishes. Having a Stock Will helps your shares pass smoothly to your chosen heirs, prevents disputes or delays, and ensures your family and descendants benefit from your shareholder status.

A regular will covers all of your assets, while a Stock Will is specific to your NOK shares. Even if you have a regular will, a Stock Will allows us to quickly and accurately process the transfer of your shares.

You may leave your shares to family members, descendants, or others of your choosing, as allowed under NOK’s policies and bylaws.

To complete a Stock Will, you will need to fill out the Stock Will form, have it notarized, and return to NOK Shareholder Services. Our Kodiak and Anchorage offices both offer free notary services for our Shareholder.

Yes, you may update or replace your Stock Will at any time by completing a new form. The most recent valid Stock Will on file will be followed.

No, because it is a company-specific document, your Stock Will is processed directly by NOK, which avoids the probate process for your shares.

If you do not have a Stock Will on file, the distribution of your shares will follow state probate law.

This may delay the transfer and could result in outcomes that are different from what you would have wanted.
